As part of the process of getting to know my new “home” I went for a walk each lunch-time. As I was obliged to leave the gallery several times this worked out well. I would select a route and highlight it on my map and then follow it, leaving an origami boat at every corner that I turned. I found this quite a meditative process, I was not able to strike out that far from the gallery but I did find the walks enlightening: I saw parts of Southport that I normally wouldn’t and I had the opportunity to talk to the indigenous population other than gallery visitors.
